My Story and Cherry Lodge Cancer Care
I’m raising funds for Cherry Lodge Cancer Care - Information and Support Centre in Barnet
In July last year I was diagnosed with breast cancer. The period from the shock of the initial diagnosis, through undergoing two separate surgical procedures and the recovery from the treatment, was difficult and had an impact on me both physically and emotionally. However, throughout that whole period the team at Cherry Lodge Cancer Care were there to support me.
From my first visit I was greeted with open arms by everybody that I met there. The Cherry Lodge Cancer nurses, Karen and Olivia, were so kind and directed me to specialist qualified therapists who got me through those difficult months.
Cherry Lodge Cancer Care offers advice, support and care to anybody with a cancer diagnosis, and this is also extended to the family and carers of those affected by cancer. The network of support that they help to build continues throughout treatment and beyond, and the services they offer are free of charge. Your support can help the team to continue this amazing work.
My Challenge: Walking the Camino de Santiago
During May 2025, I will be walking the Senda Litoral route of the Camino de Santiago (the Way of St James) from Portugal into Galicia, Spain. This fund-raising walk for Cherry Lodge will be 177 miles and completed over two weeks. It begins in Porto and finishes at the Cathedral of Santiago de Compostela. My children (Alice and James) and lovely friends (Caroline, Bernadette, Louise and Greg) will be helping me along the way.
Walking has been an important part of my recovery, so thanks must go to the ‘Walkie Talkies’ on a Saturday morning and the North London & South Herts Group - Ramblers who have helped in my preparation for this challenge.
All donations will make a difference.
THANK-YOU!
